Gideon Moretti is a London School of Economics ethics lecturer, has spent a decade proving he is nothing like his older brother, a charming Caribbean hustler named Tony. When a frantic voicemail reports that Tony has vanished from his beach bar on Grand Cayman, Gideon is dragged to the island by his young French fiancé, Chantelle, who has an uncanny enthusiasm for the trip. A threatening note, a smear of blood and a hidden ledger soon follow. Then the ledger reveals something Gideon can’t ignore: the money structures inside it are built from his own published research.
As Gideon decodes his brother’s secrets, he moves from the secure world of theory into the secrecy of the offshore financial system, where law firms, banks and drug-cartel money share the same pipes. Cayman’s police don’t want him asking questions, the people hunting the ledger are closing in, and Chantelle’s past is entangled with Tony’s in ways she isn’t sharing. Each step toward saving Tony asks Gideon to bend a principle he once taught, and the story follows him from Grand Cayman to the Isle of Man, London, and Paris as he sinks further into the world he once preached against. It’s a darkly funny thriller about what ethics are worth when someone you love is the price.

Feature coming-of-age adventure film

At fifteen, Brennan has learned how to take up as little space as possible. Overlooked at home by his stepfamily and ignored at school, the shy, self-conscious teenager moves through each day as if no one sees him. Then, alone in a classroom, he catches his hair shimmering, an unsettling sign that his social invisibility may be becoming physical. When Mia, a sharp-witted girl whose terminal illness has pushed her to the margins of her own family and friends, sees the shimmer too, Brennan finds the first person who truly notices him.
Mia and Brennan set out to reconnect people who have been forgotten or left behind, discovering that making someone visible takes more than remembering they exist. It means showing up, speaking out, and accepting the risk of being rejected. And slowly, it all begins to work. But as Mia’s illness advances to its final stages, and Brennan’s disappearance deepens, he must find the courage to turn those hard-won skills toward his own life. The Invisible Boy is a coming-of-age story about alienation, mortality, and the fragile ways we keep one another present.

Partly biographical, The Shaman tells the story a 15-year-old missionary’s son, Tommy, living in a West African village in the 1970s. His father fishes for souls as Tommy becomes increasingly disaffected with the church. Ultimately, Tommy and the village’s shaman are the only two remaining lost souls.
The two form a bond, and the shaman teaches him the ways of the Moré tribe, how to survive alone on the savannah, and how to use peyote to connect with the ancestors.
Status: This completed screenplay was written 20 years ago and was one of my first. Surprisingly, it placed in the Charleston Film Festival. This placement secured me an agent, and an option. A bit predictable as written. Looking back now, this would be an incredibly expensive film to shoot, involving locations in Africa and wild animals. It could be rewritten for animation.

The Sonnets tells the story of William Shakespeare as told through the lense of his sonnets. The poems are broken into roughly three parts: love poems written to a woman (the dark lady), love poems written to a man (The Earl of Southampton, likely for money), and poems of love lost.
Status: This was my first screenplay written after a year of research. It helped me acquire an agent and was optioned. Preproduction was halted when it was discovered that Young Shakespeare in Love was also in preproduction. Proof of a universal consciousness. It would be an embarrassing read at this point, but still holds a place in my heart as my first effort.
If one of these projects catches your interest, I’d welcome the opportunity to talk.
